rshafin Rubayet Shafin
Ph.D. Student (Fall 2017 - )

Rubayet Shafin received the B.S. degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Dhaka, Bangladesh, and the M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Kansas in 2013 and 2017, respectively. He is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering at Virginia Tech. His research interests include MIMO systems, mmWave Communications, and application of machine learning/deep learning in wireless communication. He was the recipient of 2015 NSF Student Travel Grant for IEEE GLOBECOM, 2018 IEEE TAOS Best Paper Award and 2018 IEEE TCGCC Best Conference Paper Award.


kian Kian Hamedani
Ph.D. Student (Fall 2017 - )

Kian Hamedani received the B.S. degree in Electronics from Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST) and the M.S. in Biomedical Engineering - Bioelectric from Amirkabir University of technology (Tehran Polytechnic). He is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree in the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Virginia Tech (VT). His research interests include neural Networks, neuromorphic computing, machine learning, cyber-security, and dynamic spectrum access networks.


hao-hsuan Hao-Hsuan Chang
Ph.D. Student (Fall 2017 - )

Hao-Hsuan Chang received the B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering and the M.S. degree in Communication Engineering from National Taiwan University (NTU), Taipei, Taiwan in 2014 and 2015. From 2016 to 2017, he worked as a research assistant on super-resolution in the Computer Vision Lab at Academia Sinica, Taipei, Taiwan. He is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA, USA. His research interests include dynamic spectrum access, deep learning, and optimization for wireless communications.


zhou Zhou (John) Zhou
Ph.D. Student (Spring 2018 - )

Zhou (John) Zhou received the B.S. degree in Communications Engineering from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) in 2011. Since 2018, he joined the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech as a research assistant. His current research interests are in the broad area of neural networks, machine intelligence and wireless communications.



hao Hao Song
Ph.D. Student (Spring 2018 - )

Hao Song received the B.E. degree in Electrical Information Engineering from the Zhengzhou University, Zhengzhou, China, in 2011. He is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree with the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA, USA. His current research interests include optimization, networking, machine learning/deep learning, dynamic spectrum access, and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) networks.



jianan Jianan Bai
Ph.D. Student (Fall 2018 - )

Jianan Bai received the B.S. degree in Communications Engineering from University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) in 2018. He is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree in the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Virginia Tech. His research interests include applying tools from optimization, stochastic geometry, and machine learning to solve emerging problems in device-to-device (D2D), internet-of-things (IoT), and machine-type-communications (MTC) networks.


lianjun Lianjun Li
Ph.D. Student (Fall 2018 - )

Lianjun Li received the B.S. degree in Telecommunications Engineering from Zhejiang University, China. After that he joined Ericsson as a wireless network optimization engineer for 7 years. He received the M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Texas at Dallas (UTD). Now he is pursuing the Ph.D. degree in the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech. His research interest is applying reinforcement learning and deep learning techniques to wireless communications.


bodong Bodong Shang
Ph.D. Student (Spring 2019 - )

Bodong Shang received the B.S. degree in information science and technology from Northwest University, Xi'an, China, in 2015, and the M.S. degree in communication and information systems from Xidian University, Xi'an, China, in 2018. He is currently pursuing the PhD. degree in the Bradly Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA, USA. His recent research interests include communication theory, mobile and wireless networks.


shashank Shashank Jere
Ph.D. Student (Fall 2019 - )

Shashank Jere received the B.S. degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and the M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 2014 and 2016 respectively. From 2016 to 2019, he worked as a Platform and Product Development engineer at Qualcomm Technologies Inc in San Diego, CA working on sub-6GHz and mm-Wave transceiver SoCs. He is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech. His current research interests are in the broad area of wireless communications, neural networks, machine learning/ deep learning and beyond-5G networks.


yibin Yibin (Donald) Liang
Ph.D. Student (Fall 2019 - )

Yibin Liang received the M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech, and he is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree with the Wireless@Virginia Tech and the Multifunctional Integrated Circuits and Systems (MICS) research groups in the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. His current research interests include information theory, communication networks, machine learning, VLSI, and future intelligent computing systems.


sihang Sihang (Daniel) Li
Ph.D. Student (Fall 2019 - )

Sihang Li received the B.S. degree in Electronic Information Engineering from University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), Hefei, Anhui, in the summer of 2019. Currently, He is pursuing his Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA, USA. His research interests include deep learning and the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in communication systems.


bowen Bowen (Aaron) Xu
M.S Student (Fall 2019 - )

Bowen (Aaron) Xu received the B.S. degree in Computer Engineering from Virginia Tech (VT) in 2019 with Computer Science minor. He is currently pursuing the M.S. degree within the Wireless@Virginia Tech in the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Virginia Tech. His current research interests are in the broad area of cybersecurity, communication networks, machine learning, computing systems. He is currently working on cooperative routing for an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) networks.


kevin Mingqian Liu
Visiting Scholar (Fall 2018 - )

Mingqian Liu received the Ph.D. degree in Communication and Information Systems from Xidian University, Xi’an, China, in 2013, and completed his postdoctoral research in the State Key Laboratory of Integrated Services Networks at Xidian University, from 2014 to 2016. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor in the State Key Laboratory of Integrated Services Networks at Xidian University. His research interests include communication signal processing and statistical signal processing.


hongxia Hongxia Zhang
Visiting Scholar (Spring 2019 - )

Hongxia Zhang received the Ph.D degree in Computer Science and Technology from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT), Beijing, China, 2013. She is an Associate Professor in the College of Computer Science and Technology at China University of Petroleum. Currently, she is a visiting scholar in the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, USA., from Jan. 2019 to Jan. 2020. Her current research interests include service computing, mobile edge computing and machine learning.


junchao Junchao Ma
Visiting Ph.D. Student (Fall 2017 - )

Junchao Ma received his M.E. degree from Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU), Chengdu, China, in 2011. He is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree with the Key Laboratory of Information Coding and Transmission, School of Information Science and Technology, SWJTU. He is a visiting student in the Bradley department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, USA., from Nov. 2017 to Nov. 2019. His current research interests include scalable video caching, random linear network coding (RLNC), and age of information (AoI).


nan Nan Qu

Nan Qu received the B.S. degree in Telecommunications Engineering from Xidian University, Xi'an, China, in 2017. She is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree in Communication and Information Systems from Xidian University, Xi’an, China. Currently, she is a visiting Ph.D. student in the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, USA., from Dec. 2018 to Mar. 2020. Her research interests include communication signal processing and interference alignment (IA).
