OS X Installation

Download and install the following packages from this link: http://www.linuxfoundation.org/collaborate/workgroups/openprinting/macosxpxlmono

Foomatic-RIP, pxlmono, Ghostscript

  1. Open Terminal and unzip the Ricoh printer file:
   gunzip /Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources/en.lproj/Ricoh-Aficio_MP_7500-pxlmono-Ricoh.ppd.gz
  1. Open the Ricoh printer file in TextEdit
   open -a TextEdit /Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources/en.lproj/Ricoh-Aficio_MP_7500-pxlmono-Ricoh.ppd
  1. Search for "1003" and replace all with your Ricoh Printer UserCode. (see pic editRicohUserCode.png)
  2. Save the file and rezip.
   gzip /Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources/en.lproj/Ricoh-Aficio_MP_7500-pxlmono-Ricoh.ppd
  1. Open System Preferences -> Print & Scan
  2. Add a new Printer (+ symbol on left side)
  3. Select the IP tab and enter the following settings
   Address: 128.173.88.178
   Protocol: Line Printer Daemon - LPD
   Name: Ricoh Main Office
   Use: RICOH Aficio MP 7500 PXL
  1. Click Add
  2. Select the Finisher option: Finisher SR4000
  • The Printer is now installed. Next we need to save the UserCode as a default option
  1. Open a test print document (File -> Print)
  2. In the Printer dropdown menu, select Ricoh Main Office
  3. In the last dropdown menu (surrounded by a horizontal bar) select Printer Features
  4. In the Feature Sets dropdown menu, select Job Log
  5. In the User Code dropdown menu, select your UserCode
  6. In the Presets dropdown menu, select Save Current Settings as Preset and give it a name.
  7. Print!!
