Lingjia Liu has opportunities to work on both fundamental research through [[http://nsf.gov|National Science Foundation]], [[http://www.wpafb.af.mil/afrl/afosr/|U.S. Air Force Office of Scientific Research]], and [[http://www.wpafb.af.mil/AFRL/|U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory]] funded projects and applied research through making contributions to **4G** cellular standards (3GPP LTE/LTE-Advanced and //IEEE 802.16m//). This unique experience allows him to be able to identify and solve problems that have both theoretical significance and practical importance.\\

In general, Lingjia Liu conducts research in probability theory, queueing theory, information theory, signal processing, and in their applications to wireless communication systems and networks. His current research focuses on inter-cell interference management, delay-sensitive communications over wireless networks, energy-efficient wireless communication, and enabling technologies for **5G**/**6G** networks. Currently, his research is sponsored by [[http://www.wpafb.af.mil/afrl/afosr/|Air Force Office of Scientific Research]], [[http://www.wpafb.af.mil/afrl/ri/|Air Force Research Laboratory]], [[http://nsf.gov|National Science Foundation]], [[https://www.nationalspectrumconsortium.org/|National Spectrum Consortium]], [[http://www.interdigital.com/|InterDigital]], and [[http://www.sra.samsung.com/research/standards-and-5g-mobility|Samsung Research America]]. His research efforts have been supported in part by over **$50 M** in research funding, with Lingjia Liu serving as the **principal investigator (PI)** on over **$6 M** federal grants.
