-Lingjia Liu received ​the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree with the highest honor in Electronic Engineering ​Department ​from [[http://​www.sjtu.edu.cn|Shanghai Jiao Tong University]],​ Shanghai, China, and completed his Doctor ​of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree at [[http://​www.tamu.edu|Texas A&M University]] in Electrical and Computer Engineering. He spent the summer of 2007 and spring of 2008 in the [[http://​www.merl.com|Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratory]]. Prior to joining the [[https://​ece.vt.edu/​|ECE Department]] ​at Virginia Tech (VT), he was an Associate Professor in the [[http://​www.eecs.ku.edu/​|EECS Department]] at the University ​of Kansas (KU). He spent 3+ years working ​in the [[http://​www.sra.samsung.com/​research/​standards-and-5g-mobility|Standards & Mobility Innovation Lab]] of Samsung Research America (SRA) where he received **Global Samsung Best Paper Award** twice (in 2008 and 2010 respectively). He was a technical leader and a leading **3GPP RAN1** standard delegate from Samsung on downlink MIMOCoordinated Multipoint (CoMP) transmission/​reception,​ device-to-device (D2D) communications, and Heterogeneous Networks (HetNets).
