IEEE International Workshop on 5G and Beyond for Industrial Internet
(5G-I2net 2018)

To be held in conjunction with the IEEE International Conference on Industrial Internet (ICII) 2018, Bellevue, WA, USA

October 21, 2018, Bellevue, WA, USA

Workshop Description:

Recent advances in channel coding, multiple access, massive MIMO, beamforming, software defined networking and network function virtualization in the fifth-generation (5G) cellular standards, together with improvements in hardware and computational power have opened up the possibility of a wide range of new high-value applications that are collectively called Industrial Internet, which includes industrial machine-to-machine communication and automation, autonomous vehicle networks and platooning, real-time healthcare monitoring and diagnosis, remote surgery, precision agriculture, massive-scale environmental monitoring, and smart infrastructure and asset management. There remain many technological challenges in areas such as low-power and low-complexity terminal devices, ultra-reliable low-latency (URLLC) communication, robust and low-complexity anti-jamming capability, ultra-high security, and intelligent network management. This workshop is intended to bring together experts from industry and academia to address these challenges and chart a course to 6G. The emphasis is on new technologies, use cases, paths to standards, business models, deployment strategies that can accelerate the mass adoption and deployment of the Industrial Internet. Forward-looking technologies are highly encouraged.

Topics of interest

The workshop solicits original contributions in, but not limited to, the following topical areas:

·       Low-power and low-complexity design of the antenna, waveform, channel coding, MIMO, beamforming, and non-orthogonal multiple access

·       Technologies to enable URLLC, both in the radio access network and in the core network

·       Realistic analysis of the requirements on the latency, reliability, and data rate for various applications

·       Novel use cases for the Industrial Internet enabled by 5G or 6G

·       Integration and harmonization of cellular, Wi-Fi, satellites, and high-altitude platforms(HAPS)

·       Jamming detection and mitigation, malicious signal identification, cognition and learning based network adaptation and optimization

·        Free-space optical communication, quantum cryptography; paths to cellular standards

·        Practical network information theory based channel coding

·        Tera Hertz antennas (e.g., based on nano technology) and channel modeling

Submission Guidelines

Each submission should contain original material that has neither been previously published nor is currently under review at other places (e.g. journals, magazine, conferences, symposia and workshops) with copyrighted proceedings. The reviews process is single blind and there is no need to anonymize the submissions. A submission should not exceed 6 pages. Author should use standard conference paper format (e.g. two-column, a margin of 1 inch on all sides, 10-point font size, etc.); its Latex and Word template can be downloaded from here. All submissions must be in PDF format. Please follow the link for paper submission.
